Montreal-based software developer X2O Media has partnered with autostereoscopic visual display designer Exceptional 3D to develop an integrated content management system (CMS) for glasses-free three-dimensional (3-D) digital signage.
The partnership will integrate X2O’s web-based CMS tools with Exceptional’s software to allow digital signage network operators to control both two-dimensional (2-D) and 3-D content on high-definition (HD) flat-panel displays.
“Our management tools will support the playback of 2-D and 3-D content seamlessly for any vertical market or application,” says Dan Fischer, Exceptional’s chief operating officer (COO).
In this way, the partnership aims to capitalize on traditional digital signage systems, while further encouraging the adoption of 3-D technology worldwide.
“There is growing interest in the digital signage industry for no-glasses 3-D,” says David Wilkins, president and CEO of X2O Media. “We are very happy to become a part of it.”
The companies plan to provide their co-developed technology to resellers, system integrators and network operators.
