LG Electronics has introduced what it calls the world’s first ‘4K’ ultra-high-definition (ultra-HD) digital signage display. It will be demonstrated later this month at the Digital Signage Expo (DSE) in Las Vegas, Nev.

The commercial version of LG’s 2.1-m (84-in.) ultra-HD TV reportedly boasts four times the screen resolution of traditional HD displays, at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, and is backlit with light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The first two installed models are already operating within a 3.4-m (11-ft) tall wayfinding kiosk (pictured) on a passenger concourse at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport.

“It has been challenging to communicate to customers the many changes that have taken place around the airport since the opening of Terminal 3, but this incredible display will help capture people’s attention and get our message across clearly,” says Rosemary Vassiliadis, deputy director for Clark County’s department of aviation, which owns and operates the airport.
