Ibase Technology, which manufactures information technology (IT) motherboards and embedded systems, has won a 2013 International Forum (IF) product design award for its SI-38 digital signage system.
An embedded system designed specifically for digital signage applications, the SI-38 (pictured) beat out more than 3,000 other entries for the award, having already won a 2012 gold award and industrial innovation achievement award at the Computex trade show in Taiwan.
Powered by an accelerated processing unit (APU) with multiple display outputs, the SI-38 has a 26-mm (1-in.) thick chassis built around a die-cast aluminum thermal frame, which simultaneously provides the system’s structural backbone, thermal conduit, hard disk drive (HDD) rail, (EMI) shield and mounting bracket. It also segregates the cooling airflow from the electronics to keep contaminants out and ensure long-term reliability.
“We designed the SI-38 not only with a refined appearance, but also functionality-wise with superior processing and graphics performance to meet our customers’ standards,” says C.S. Lin, Ibase’s president.
