Christie, based in Kitchener, Ont., has supplied 425 MicroTile digital signage ‘cubes’ to light up Disney’s Electric Holiday window display at the flagship Barneys fashion store in New York, N.Y.
The display debuted on November 14 and will run until January 3, 2013. Its multimedia presentation includes an eight-minute animated short, featuring popular Disney characters strutting along a fashion runway in original designer clothes. The video plays out on multiple configurations of MicroTiles in eight of the luxury retailer’s windows, comprising 15 simultaneous high-definition (HD) video streams, accompanied by a light show and synchronized music.
“We wanted a visually stunning window display unlike any other,” says Lylle Breier, Walt Disney Studios’ senior vice-president (SVP) of worldwide special events. “Using 52.5-m2 (565 sf) of MicroTiles—with their virtually seamless canvas and true-to-life image quality—and 50 million pixels, we are able to create a brilliant light and video show that will light up Madison Avenue throughout the holidays.”
