Dye-sub printer donated for SGIA workshops

valuejetdyesubMutoh America has temporarily donated a 1.6-m (64-in.) wide ValueJet 1624W dye sublimation printer to the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) for use in training workshops in Fairfax, Va., as well as for the testing of materials, inks and papers.

The printer was provided in time to support SGIA’s ‘Operation Sublimation’ wide-format graphics workshop in June, which will be followed by a colour management ‘boot camp’ later this month and a garment sublimation workshop in September.

“I am thrilled to have the ValueJet available for our workshops and as a resource in our testing of specialty imaging materials,” says Ray Weiss, an SGIA digital imaging specialist.

“As a longtime member of SGIA, Mutoh is happy to support their educational efforts,” says Brian Phipps, vice-president (VP) and general manager (GM) of Mutoh America. “This donation is a great opportunity to further their work, as well as our own.”
