Edmonton Airport installs giant LED display

Out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm Pattison Outdoor and Samsung Canada have installed a 9.8 x 3.7-m (32 x 12-ft) landmark ‘4K’ ultra-high-definition (UHD) light-emitting diode (LED) display at Edmonton International Airport (EIA).

Reportedly the nation’s largest airport display of its kind, the screen is positioned near EIA’s Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) central security checkpoint, where 9,000 travellers pass through every day. As limited wall space was available for mounting the stadium-scale display, it was installed from the ceiling for maximum visibility for a mix of security wait times, emergency updates, ads, entertainment and live broadcasts.

“This board allows us to improve our passenger experience by providing information more efficiently,” says Myron Keehn, EIA’s vice-president (VP) of air service and commercial development. “It also provides opportunities for advertisers to promote their products or services.”
