PxlWorks, a large-format printing and design service provider in Almonte, Ont., has installed a new Acuity Advance LT ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) flatbed printer from Fujifilm Canada.

Serving a region spreading from Ottawa to Gatineau, Que., PxlWorks opened for business six years ago, printing marketing and advertising graphics on cloth, canvas, vinyl and paper for design firms, high-tech companies and other image-conscious customers. The shop has relied on five roll-to-roll printers for the majority of its work, but its senior partners have also been considering buying a UV flatbed for the last five years.

“We were in search of an affordable and upgradeable flatbed printer that would produce direct-to-substrate applications, while at the same time cutting down on our production time and material costs,” says Rodney Groulx, senior partner.

The 4-m (161.4-in.) wide Acuity Advance LT can print on both rigid and flexible media at speeds topping 12 m2 (130 sf) per hour.
