Espanola Hospital puts digital signage in patients’ hands

Livewire Digital has deployed its eConcierge self-check-in kiosk and integrated digital signage technology in the triage area of a new emergency annex at Ontario’s Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre.

The system allows the community hospital to gather and prioritize patients’ admission information, which should help reduce their wait times and improve their experiences at the facility. Touch-screen check-in stations let them sign in immediately, printing a receipt with a number and an explanation of the annex’s new triage process.

Each patient’s entry time is posted to digital signs to alert the relevant hospital staff members. As the hospital gathers and tracks real-time data, it can analyze ways to further reduce wait times.

“We see more and more health-care facilities introducing interactive technology to improve patient engagement,” says David McCracken, CEO of Livewire.
