The Out-of-Home Marketing Association of Canada (OMAC) reports its members have grown their digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising inventory over the past 15 months from 3,700 to more than 6,800 screens.

Astral Out-of-Home, Cogeco Metromedia, Newad, Pattison Outdoor and Zoom Media are among the member companies that have invested in digital signage installations across the country, including liquid crystal displays (LCDs), light-emitting diode (LED) screens, large-format projections, video walls and plasma screens.

Formats range from poster-size displays to giant billboards, with networks reaching transportation routes, transit stations, restaurants, bars, fitness clubs, shopping malls, airports and college campuses.

OMAC credits the growth to technological advances and marketers’ demands for shorter lead times, more flexibility and mobile integration.

“The expansion of our member companies’ digital offerings underscores the out-of-home (OOH) industry’s commitment to respond to the needs of the advertising industry, by adapting to shifting consumer trends and increasing the choices available to marketers to optimize campaign results,” says Michael Reha, OMAC chair and Newad CEO.
