Installing banners might soon become simpler, thanks to a newly announced patent approval.

Ohio-based E.L. Hatton Sales has received U.S. Patent for its Banner Ups[2] BravoBanner system, an automated banner finishing machine that can efficiently apply the brand’s BravoTabs and BravoTape products. The system uses dual heads to apply tabs and tape simultaneously along the top and bottom edge of the banner, which can be easily adjusted to accommodate variable widths. The machine also punches rope holes.

The BravoBanner system, which was named Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA’s) Product of the Year in the category of Finishing Equipment–Other in 2016, offers hem-taping speeds of up to 24 m (80 ft) per minute, allowing one to two operators to complete as many as 150 banners hourly.

With an overall footprint of less than 15 m (50 ft) and low electricity requirements, the machine offers reduced space and cost requirements as compared to traditional sewing or welding systems.

“The BravoBanner system automates the banner finishing process for high volume banner production,” said Rick Hatton, company president. “This innovation can create a new model for large-scale banner production efficiency and cost.”
