The International Sign Association (ISA) Elite program, now in its fifth year, has welcomed four new participants from across Canada.

The class of 2019 includes: Kelso Brennan, general manager and president of Hi Signs/Banff Sign Company in Edmonton, Alta., Krista Edwards, project manager and sales representative at Media Resources International, in Oakville, Ont., Nikki Sheridan, project manager at Modern Age Plastics in Toronto; and Lee Murphy, sales representative, Enseignes Access Inc., in Longueuil, Que.

“When I embarked on a career in signage, I wanted to make a positive impact on the industry; being recognized as an ISA Elite is an honour which validates that I’m on the right track,” said Brennan.

Sheridan is also honoured to be given this opportunity.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting all the other young professionals that were chosen. I hope to expand my knowledge in the industry and represent Modern Age Plastics, and Canada well at the ISA show.”

Murphy considers participating in the ISA Elite program not only to be an honour, but also an opportunity to represent Canada and the country’s sign industry abroad.

Edwards says this is a great opportunity for her to connect with other young professionals in the industry.

“I am very honoured to have been chosen as an ISA Elite and look forward to meeting my classmates,” she added.

Those named to the Elite class will attend ISA’s International Sign Expo in in Las Vegas, Nev., next month where they will connect with other ‘classmates,’ previous cohorts and ISA’s board of directors, attend educational sessions and visit the trade show floor. This fall, they will gather again for a leadership retreat at ISA’s offices in Alexandria, Va.

“Each year, the ISA Elite bring a level of excitement to the industry,” said ISA president and CEO Lori Anderson. “This group, in particular, will benefit from the many diverse connections they will be able to make. As with previous groups, they will be able to take what they’ve learned back to their companies, where they can make a major impact.”

The program provides education and networking to the next generation of sign and graphics professionals. Participants range from those who own their companies to those who work for the largest manufacturers. Some are in sign creation and installation, others are in sales, marketing and product development. Still others have roles in planning, recruiting and training. In addition, 27 represent companies that are new to the program.

“The ISA Elite program has proven invaluable in developing the next generation of sign, graphics, and visual communications industry leaders,” said Iain Mackenzie, ISA’s vice-president of meetings and events. “The networking provides connections that participants can take back into their businesses and help them solve problems or maximize opportunities.”
