Giant goal light to tour Canada

On Feb. 25, Budweiser Canada will bring a new 6-m (20-ft) tall metal-and-fibreglass goal light to the World Pond Hockey Championships in Plaster Rock, N.B., marking the beginning of a national tour.

Although the goal-synchronized Budweiser Red Light was previewed in an ad earlier this month during the National Football League (NFL’s) Super Bowl championship game (see video below), it is designed as a symbol of hockey as Canada’s national sport. Standing two storeys tall and built to withstand temperatures below -40 C (-40 F) and winds up to 193 km/h (120 mph), it will reportedly be transported to the North Pole in September.

In the meantime, tour stops will be announced online at www.budweiser.ca/canadasgoallight[1].
