Coast Paper recently installed an Océ Arizona 360GT ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) flatbed printer for Modo Design in Richmond Hill, Ont. Modo opened in a 92.9-m2 (1,000-sf) facility at the end of 2008. Today, the business operates from a 278.7-m2 (3,000-sf) facility, serving the printing trade through business-to-business (B2B) sales and print brokering of retail signs, retractable banner stands and other graphic applications for advertising. The new printer is expected to help increase production capacity further and shorten turnaround times, with less labour and a reduction of material use, as it can print graphics directly onto substrates. White ink capabilities are also enabling Modo to expand into new markets. “We will open up new possibilities through the continued acquisition of new technologies and the adoption of groundbreaking applications, such as those made possible by the Arizona 360GT,” says Jackie Chan, owner. Another factor in the decision, according to Chan, was expert consultation from Coast Paper. “A strong partnership with your supplier is necessary,” he says.
