Fujifilm Canada’s graphic systems division has installed North America’s first Inca Onset X3 flatbed press at print service provider (PSP) Holland & Crosby new plant in Mississauga, Ont., along with finishing equipment to accommodate increased capacity.
The X3 (pictured with Richard Labiuk, vice-president (VP) of finance and operations, left, and Scott Crosby, VP of sales and marketing, right) can reportedly print up to 900 m2 (9,688 sf) per hour. It joins an X1 and a Durst Rho 320 roll-to-roll (RTR) printer in Holland & Crosby’s graphics production department, which in turn are complemented by two Esko Kongsberg C64 digital cutting tables in the finishing zone (pictured, below).
“We knew we needed to match the increased throughput of our presses with our cutters or we would create a bottleneck in the finishing department,” Crosby explains. “The new tables are 2.5 times faster than the cutters we were running before.”
Holland & Crosby, which specializes in point-of-purchase (POP) graphics, was founded in 1932, became digital-only in 2010 and moved into a new, purpose-built, 6,596-m2 (71,000-sf) building earlier this year.
