[1]Astral Out-of-Home is promoting Ikea Canada’s seasonal Market Hall product lines with a new transit shelter poster on Toronto’s King Street West that warms up whenever someone stands in front of it.
Ikea’s latest campaign urges Canadians to reduce their home energy consumption in the winter months by warming themselves with woolen throw blankets. To illustrate this effect, ad agencies Leo Burnett and Jungle Media set up the transit shelter with motion detectors, heaters, a fan and a thermostat to heat the area to between 27 and 29 C (80 and 85 F), accompanied by ad copy urging pedestrians to ‘step closer to feel the warmth.’
The fan reportedly shuts down again after 20 to 30 seconds and remains off until the motion sensors are activated again. The ad debuted on Feb. 13 and runs until mid-March.
