Impulse automates wide-format layouts

esk_pr1142pl_impulse-graphic-01diemhuynh02Impulse Graphic & Display Solutions in Mississauga, Ont., has installed Esko’s Automation Engine pre-press workflow software to accelerate production by automating ‘step and repeat’ layouts for its wide-format inkjet printers and cutting tables.

Founded 40 years ago, Impulse prints, finishes, ships and installs signs, displays, point-of-purchase (POP) graphics and promotional applications for retail environments. Until recently, the company received job files from File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites and manually processed them with graphic design and pre-flight software.

“With a growing customer base, we needed to automate our workflow,” says Alexander Cachia, president. “Our most pressing need was to reduce operator time for repetitive tasks. Now, we can accept larger jobs and turn them around faster.”
