A plan is in motion to install digital signs at every bus stop in the city of Guelph, Ont., giving passengers real-time information about when their bus will arrive and other helpful travel details.

According to a report from guelphtoday.com, the digital signage installation is part of an effort to get more people out of their vehicles and onto transit, to reduce community emissions, and increase ridership.

The project is currently at its development stage and the public is being asked to comment on which details the digital signs should include, in addition to real-time arrivals. Implementation of the plan is expected to take place next year.

City council has approved $670,000 for the project in 2022, with another $1 million allocated for 2023. It is not currently known whether the city will approve any additional funding.
