The Vancouver Airport Authority (VAA) has installed an interactive 3.8 x 2.4-m (12.5 x 7.8-ft) light-emitting diode (LED) display to entertain passengers waiting in line at Vancouver International Airport.
Replacing a printed map of select flight paths near Gate C, the NanoLumens display features content developed by Montreal-based Float4, including destination videos that change when people pass by and images of Vancouver that move in response to gestures, captured by a Microsoft Kinect system and camera.
“We’ve partnered with NanoLumens on projects in our public areas and customs hall that provide wayfinding, sign language and flight information,” explains Lynette DuJohn, VAA’s vice-president (VP) of information technology (IT) and chief digital officer. “Now, in partnership with Float4, we have this new interactive experience and we are seeing a lot of smiles on people’s faces.”
