A gesture-based interactive floor display has been added to the Exploration Place Museum and Science Centre in Prince George, B.C. Installed to coincide with the opening of a new ‘Biome’ exhibit, the floor’s images react as guests walk across it.

“Our guests are totally amazed when they realize their gestures trigger action in the floor,” says Tracy Calogheros, CEO of Exploration Place. “The interactive floor stops them right in their tracks. In fact, we have to encourage them to keep walking toward the exhibit space!”

The special floor zone can assume a variety of projected graphics. One image looks like a desert of sand, which appears to blow away when walked on, revealing dinosaur bones. Another scenario features bugs that approach guests’ feet wherever they step.

The museum’s EyeStep digital signage system was configured by EyeClick, which specializes in floor, wall and window projections for retail stores, trade shows, visitor centres, lobbies and other environments.
