ACUnveil[1]Information technology (IT) networking equipment manufacturer Cisco has donated an interactive kiosk to the Whitby Abilities Centre for wayfinding, two-way video communications and other purposes.

Visitors to the fully accessible facility in Whitby, Ont., can use the digital display to access maps, local public transit schedules and community information. The kiosk’s assistive technologies include high contrast levels and font-size adjustment.

“It’s a great way for people to witness firsthand how technology and connectivity continue to have a positive impact in everyday life,” says Ron Dekker, Cisco Canada’s vice-president (VP) of corporate development.

The kiosk also previews technology that will be used at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan American Games. Cisco plans to deploy similar systems at competition venues and throughout Toronto before the games.
