In honour of his retirement and induction into the Blue Jays Level of Excellence, the Toronto Blue Jays commissioned an outdoor mural to celebrate Jose Bautista’s career, as well as his iconic bat flip.
Designed by local artist Paul Glyn-Williams, the mural is located at the side of a building at Spadina Avenue and Oxley Street. Fans are encouraged to visit and enjoy the installation and continue to recognize the legacy the baseball star established with the team and within the city.
Earlier this month, Bautista signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. He then took his place on the Level of Excellence, in front of a sold-out crowd at the Rogers Centre.
“Today, I am proud and humbled to look up and see my name alongside so many greats on the Level of Excellence,” Bautista said during his speech at the ceremony. “I want to thank every one of you for this unforgettable journey.”
