A 2.4-m (8-ft) tall mural can now be admired by passengers of the transborder zone of the Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.
Painted by local illustrator Cécile Gariépy—who has created other eye-catching urban murals in the city in collaboration with the art collective Le Cartel—this artwork evokes city alleyways, which are emblematic of Montreal’s history and culture and will enhance the traveller experience.
The project came to life through the YULArt program, which was launched earlier this year to promote the work of local artists. Le Montréaler exhibition, which is presented in the domestic zone tunnel leading to gates 17 to 34, is also part of this initiative.
“We are proud to be showcasing the artworks of creators through this impressive mural,” said Aéroports de Montreal’s director of customer experience, Renée Lebel. “Thanks to local talent, we are paying tribute to our city.”
