LED displays added to Toronto’s SkyWalk

190Out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm IMA Outdoor has added two NanoLumens light-emitting diode (LED) displays to the SkyWalk, an enclosed walkway from Toronto’s Union Station, Canada’s busiest transportation facility.

Following a competitive review, IMA sourced two NanoSlim 2.5-mm (0.1-in.) pixel pitch displays, one measuring 3 x 4.9 m (10 x 16 ft) and the other 1.8 x 3 m (6 x 10 ft). One reason for the choice was to avoid the bezels of liquid crystal display (LCD) video walls.

“Advertisers are insisting their messages be seen at close distances without the distraction of pixelation, bezels and lines,” says IMA CEO Brian Rodkin. “These displays present an opportunity for them to reach working professionals and tourists who are hard to reach through traditional media. We are now considering additional signage in the SkyWalk.”

Opened in 1989, the SkyWalk allows hundreds of thousands of pedestrians each year to reach the Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome), Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and now the new Union-Pearson (UP) Express train service to Pearson International Airport.
