Legion banner program to honour Burlington’s veterans

The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 60, in Burlington, Ont., is currently taking orders for its 2022 Honour Our Veterans banner program.[1]

According to thestar.com[2], 0.6- x 1.3-m (2- x 4.3-ft) banners will be displayed on 30 lampposts along Brant Street—each featuring a portrait of the veteran, where they served, and who sponsored the program. They will start going up prior to Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

Each banner will be up once a year, for approximately three weeks, for the course of two years. Applicants will be notified of the dates for display and removal and will be responsible for the storage of them when they are not in commission.

To participate program, sponsors are encouraged to complete and submit the application form on the legion’s website. The fee for sponsorship is $190, payable by cheque to the Royal Canadian Legion. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 9.
