Two flexible digital displays from NanoLumens were recently installed for an Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Party Greater Toronto Area (GTA) dinner, which ended up breaking the party’s own fundraising records.
Metalworks Production Group staged the event in November 2011, a month after the party lost the provincial election, and needed to ensure attendees could view leader Tim Hudak’s speech from hundreds of feet away and at many angles. It turned to audiovisual (AV) technology integrator APG Displays, which recommended the pair of 2.8-m (112-in.) NanoFlex displays for setup on either side of Hudak’s podium.
As the displays weighed 32 kg (85 lb) each and did not require cumbersome rigging, they were relatively easy to install and then take down again after the dinner.
“Metalworks had never used these displays, so they were really shocked when we told them they could be set up and broken down in less than two hours,” says David Weatherhead, vice-president (VP) of APG. “A projection screen or traditional digital display would have required more people and time to install.”
[2]“Special events are a growing market for digital displays, provided they can be moved in and out quickly, in every type of room, with minimal structural requirements,” says Rick Cope, NanoLumens’ president and CEO. “The GTA dinner is exactly the kind of environment these displays were made for.”
The dinner was the largest and most successful in the provincial party’s history, drawing more than 800 supporters and candidates and raising nearly $1.5 million.
