The city of Victoria is searching for artists interested in participating in future mural projects or downtown kiosk displays.
Emerging and established artists throughout Western Canada are encouraged to submit their applications for the city’s mural roster. This prequalified list will help facilitate a connection between artists and local businesses looking to enhance their space with murals. Interested artists may be called upon for mural projects between April 2023 and October 2025.
Submissions for the mural roster will be evaluated based on each artist’s visual storytelling style, as well as their experience with creating dynamic murals, collaborating with the community, and working on complex projects.
Artists are also invited to submit up to five original pieces for display in kiosks on Douglas Street. These can vary in style, such as photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, digital artwork, textile, and beadworks.
Preference may be given to applicants who are new to the program. Interested parties must live in the Capital Region, including the Gulf Islands.
The city will be hosting online information sessions for artists to meet with staff, review the application requirements, and ask questions about each opportunity. The mural group will meet on Nov. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while the kiosk group will meet on Nov. 17 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The submission deadline for both projects is Dec. 5 at 4 p.m.
