Mississauga fire truck goes pink for breast cancer awareness

Mississauga Pink Fire Truck 002

Firefighters and support staff in Mississauga, Ont., raised funds to temporarily wrap one of their trucks in pink graphics last fall, in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

The wrap was produced and installed by Starlite Graphics & Signs in Concord, Ont., for the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) ‘Care Enough to Wear Pink’ campaign throughout October, when firefighters also traded in their usual navy blue work T-shirts for pink ones. The truck made appearances at special events, including the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) Run for the Cure at the University of Toronto’s (U of T’s) Mississauga campus, while also remaining in front-line service for emergencies.

“We are extremely proud to have our pink truck out in our community for this terrific cause,” says Ryan Coburn, vice-president (VP) of the Mississauga Fire Fighters Association, Local 1212 of IAFF.
