[1]Entro, a Toronto-based environmental graphic design (EGD) firm, has created a new wayfinding and interpretive sign system for the Riverwood Conservancy, a 60.7-ha (150-acre) property established in Mississauga, Ont., in 1985.
Co-owned by the city of Mississauga and Credit Valley Conservation, the Riverwood Conservancy features public gardens, a visual arts centre, heritage buildings, old-growth forests, meadowlands, wetlands, wildlife habitats and nature trails.
To complement the natural environment, Entro used a combination of wooden, concrete and brightly coloured metal components and chose simply typography and animal pictograms. In addition to wayfinding signs and interpretive panels, the signage program also includes donor recognition elements.
The clients have praised the sign system for generating renewed public appeal for the conservancy.
