Trans-Lux recently provided eight new amber GraphixWall display units for GO Transit’s train and bus facilities at Toronto’s Union Station, the busiest transportation hub in Canada.
The electronic light-emitting diode (LED) displays, which post train departure information at the bus and track levels, join more than 100 other GraphixWalls already installed for GO throughout the station.
“The installations have been growing at a steady pace, representing GO’s commitment to providing expanded services to customers,” says J.M. Allain, president and CEO of Trans-Lux, whose Canadian division is based in Burlington, Ont.
Each unit features an application programming interface (API) that lets GO’s software integrator develop customized communications with the display through Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Internet Protocol (IP) or serial connection.
In 2008, Trans-Lux installed a full-colour GraphixMax LED display as part of a five-year Union Station revitalization plan undertaken by the city and Via Rail Canada, another major tenant. The full-matrix display can showcase text, graphics and ‘tile-able’ panels of different sizes.
