NanoLumens, creators of light-emitting diode (LED) visualization solutions, has announced the installation of four direct-view LED display solutions in San Antonio International Airport.

Commissioned by the airport’s division of Lamar Advertising and integrated by VIA Technology, the project includes a 4.5- x 1.8-m (15- x 6-ft) large flat-panel display, which is located above the B-side entrance to the Baggage Claim Zone. A 2-m (6.4-ft) tall column wrap is located within the same area, while a 10- x 0.8-m (33.1- x 2.5-ft) ribbon display is above the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) check-in area. The final display of the project—a quatrefoil which measures 1.6-m (5.5-ft) wide by 1.6-m (5.4-ft) high—is a four-lobed geometric shape that is central to the culture and brand of the city.

This distinctive installation overlooks the TSA check-in area. The locations were chosen because of its well-lit and highly trafficked areas.

“The goal was to showcase San Antonio’s ability to move forward into the future with technology and to include advertising along with that,” said VIA Technology’s project integrator, Michael Villa. “The signs that previously filled the space gave an empty and plain feel, but LEDs offer greater clarity and customization.”
