Lamar Advertising has signed a five-year transit ad contract with MiWay, the public transportation agency that operates buses in Mississauga, Ont.

MiWay’s fleet includes 448 buses running on 88 routes, serving 738,000 residents throughout 179 km² (70 sq. mi) of the city. Under the contract, Lamar will display messaging from advertising agencies and direct clients on the interiors and exteriors of the buses, through 2017.

Lamar previously held a multi-year contract with MiWay’s predecessor, Mississauga Transit.

“It’s great to be back in business in Mississauga,” says Steve Copeland, general manager (GM) for Lamar’s transit advertising in Eastern Canada. “The growth in this city over the years has been staggering. We hope to reach as many local businesses as possible with our bus wraps, but this is a tremendous market for national advertisers, as well.”
