Palram Americas, which manufactures polycarbonate and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheets for the sign industry, celebrated the opening of an additional production line with a two-day event on April 30 and May 1.
The new ‘Line 44’ adds the ability to produce polycarbonate sheets and coils up to 2.6 m (104 in.) wide, untrimmed. It will manufacture up to 15-mm (0.6-in.) thick general-purpose sheets, one- and two-sided co-extruded sign-grade sheets and coils, fire-rated sheets and high-optics sheets.
“Line 44 will bring a greater ability to serve our existing customers, while also attracting new customers and tackling new markets,” says Tim Cronrath, product manager.
The celebration began with a grand display of various products made from polycarbonate during a cocktail reception and dinner. The next day, project engineer Matt Ehrig (pictured, centre) cut the ribbon, flanked by president and CEO Ron Dvir (left) and senior vice-president (SVP) of sales and marketing Mike Howser (right). Guests toured both the polycarbonate and PVC manufacturing plants.
