As the school year begins, Sault Ste. Marie has installed new signage and traffic-calming bollards at five locations across the city in response to community concerns about speeding.
The targeted areas include:
Queen Street East – Boundary Road to Millwood Drive
MacDonald Avenue – Pine Street to Lake Street
Black Road – Sinclair Yards entrance to Third Line East
Fourth Line West – Arson Drive to Peoples Road
Baseline – west and east of Carpin Beach Road
“Bollards are temporary but effective measures to reduce speeding and encourage safer driving,” the City of Sault Ste. Marie said via Facebook, reminding drivers to stay cautious as students return to school.
