  • Software developer Caldera is supporting Roland DGA’s VersaExpress RF-640 wide-format printer (pictured) with a set of device-specific drivers compatible with Caldera’s raster image processors (RIPs) for colour management purposes.
  • Wholesale sign supply company Grimco has acquired the Canadian operations of Proveer Sign and Graphics, which distributes supplies and equipment for the industry. Grimco previously purchased Proveer’s U.S. business in 2012.
  • Montreal-based digital signage software developer X2O Media has been acquired by Barco, which is known for digital projectors, light-emitting diode (LED) boards, flat panel displays, video walls and other dynamic display hardware.
  • Computer numerical control (CNC) router manufacturer MultiCam has been acquired by Rosewood Private Investments. The existing management team will help Rosewood pursue further, complementary acquisitions.
  • Pressure-sensitive vinyl supplier FDC Graphic Films signed on two new Canadian distributors: Stanley’s Sign & Screen Supply, with locations in Richmond, B.C., Edmonton and Cambridge, Ont.; and Quality Digital Solutions in Calgary.
  • The Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) signed a partnership agreement with Two Sides North America, an independent, non-profit organization that promotes the responsible and sustainable production and use of paper in the print industry.
  • Astral Out-of-Home expanded its digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising network to Alberta with the acquisition of Macdonald Outdoor, which operates nine curved 3.7 x 7.3-m (12 x 24-ft) screens in Edmonton.

    provide raster image processors (RIPs) for dye sublimation printing.
  • Super-wide-format inkjet printer manufacturer Electronics for
    Imaging (EFI) has acquired Groupe Rhapso, which develops
    software for printing and packaging, and DirectSmile, which
    provides cross-media marketing automation software.
  • In-store digital signage operator iSign Media Solutions in
    Richmond Hill, Ont., has appointed JEA Technologies as its
    Australian distributor for ‘smart antennas’ and other technologies.
  • Franchise system Signarama named graphic fi lm and
    overlaminate manufacturer Avery Dennison a preferred
    partner for its worldwide rebranding campaign, which
    began in 2013. Signarama franchisees are currently using
    Avery vinyl for new window graphics, lobby displays and
    vehicle wraps.
