- Wide-format printer/cutter vendor Roland DGA has expanded its accessory line with compatible colour management software and hardware tools from X-Rite.
- Digital signage software developer Admira has entered a strategic alliance with media player manufacturer AOpen to target retailers and ad agencies by bundling their products. AOpen has also its media players’ compatibility with Klocktornet’s Dise software, Online Software’s content management system and Samsung’s commercial displays.
- Emergency notification system provider Rave Mobile Safety has partnered with digital signage software developer Visix to co-operate on sales, marketing and technology initiatives for higher-education campuses.
- Light-emitting diode (LED) fixture developer Zon LED has chosen Bridgelux’s RS LED arrays as the illumination source for its billboard lighting retrofits across Canada and the U.S.
- MultiCam Canada has become a Canadian distributor of Kasemake’s computer-aided design (CAD) software for the sign, point-of-purchase (POP), packaging and merchandising sectors.
- The Gores Group, a private equity firm, signed a definitive agreement to acquire TE Connectivity’s ‘touch solutions’ business, which supplies touch screens, monitors and computers under the Elo TouchSystems brand.
- Digital signage platform developer ZetaDisplay has partnered with information technology (IT) hardware manufacturer Fujitsu to offer digital signage systems to the global retail market.
- Colour management software providers GMG and Esko have announced the newest versions of GMG ColorProof and FlexoProof can connect directly to Esko Color Engine.
- Saddle Ranch Digital, which develops content for digital signage, has become the exclusive reseller for HolograFX Displays’ interactive three-dimensional (3-D) holographic image systems.
- JCM Global, which supplies digital displays to the gaming industry, has signed a global agreement with Four Winds Interactive (FWI) to distribute its digital signage software.
- Paper broker Unisource Worldwide has become a Silver Patron of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), which certifies wide-format and other printing companies for environmental responsibility.
- Light-emitting diode (LED) surface-mount tile manufacturer Panasonic Eco Solutions North America and video wall provider GoVision have joined forces to expand the modular LED-based video screen rental market. Panasonic has also partnered with Sony to jointly develop large-scale organic LED (OLED) displays in 2013.
- Digital sign supplier AVNU Digital has named United Visual Products its representative and distributor in North America.
- National print system distributor Ernest Green & Son (EGS) has acquired Extreme Media Solutions, which sells wide-format equipment and consumables in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
- Zivelo has been named the exclusive North American distributor for EcoTech Computers’ solar-powered outdoor self-service kiosks.
- Montreal-based X2O Media and OpenSplash have integrated their open digital signage content management framework portal and media players, respectively, to support video walls, screen zoning and dynamic content.
- Wide-format printer vendor Mutoh America has become a member of the International Digital Enterprise Alliance (IDEAlliance), which recently began building a set of standards and guidelines for colour management and process control in the wide- to grand-format digital printing sector. Mutoh has also signed a new agreement whereby Paradigm Imaging Group will distribute its ValueJet printers.
- Mvix, which develops audiovisual (AV) technology, video wall appliances, interactive kiosks, cloud-based content management systems and playback devices for the digital signage industry, has joined the Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA).
- Through a new partnership, Zytronic’s projected capacitive technology (PCT) touch sensors are now compatible with Omnivision’s Omnitapps software platform for large-format digital displays.
- Brand Management Group (BMG) has become a worldwide distributor and reseller of Kodak materials for wide-format inkjet printing, including glossy poster, water-resistant scrim banner and repositionable fabric substrates.
- Microsoft is acquiring Perceptive Pixel, which develops large-scale multi-touch displays for workstations and video walls in the broadcast, government, higher education, defence, engineering and energy exploration markets.
- Digital signage extension and distribution equipment developer ComQi has named Almo its newest North American professional audiovisual (AV) distributor.
- 3M Commercial Graphics has entered an exclusive partnership with Knifeless Tech Systems to provide its high-strength filament-based tape to help vehicle wrap installers cut 3M’s graphic films quickly and cleanly.
- Networking equipment developer Cisco has named CompuCom Systems an Authorized Digital Media System (DMS) Partner, allowing it to sell, deploy and support Cisco’s digital signage displays in the Canadian market.
- Electronics distributor Capitol has announced a deal through MMD, the exclusive licensee for Phillips commercial signage products, to sell Phillips’ 0.8- to 1.7-m (32- to 65-in.) displays and related accessories.
