The town council and staff of Roddickton-Bide Arm, Nfld., unveiled new signage for ‘The Farm,’ the official event site for local Come Home 2022 celebrations.
“Come Home” is to encourage former residents of Newfoundland and Labrador to come home to remind residents of the province and complement ongoing work to attract and expand marketing efforts with non-resident visitors.
The Municipal Come Home Year Celebration Grants provided the funding for the signage in November 2021 to assist municipalities and Inuit community governments in preparing for Come Home Year celebrations.
To support the high level of interest and the number of applications received, program funding was increased from $250,000 to approximately $355,000. More than 180 towns throughout the province have received a grant through the initiative, including Admirals Beach, Anchor Point, Appleton, Badger, Baine Harbour, and many more.
“The town would like to acknowledge the support provided by the provincial government through funding under the Municipal Come Home Year Celebration Grant. The signage is a nice complement to the additional work completed over the past year. The area is more visible to tourists as well. Thank you for supporting small communities,” said mayor Kenneth Reid.
