The town of Okotoks, AB, is installing new signage this year.
According to a local news report from highriveronline.com, the first signs from the town’s signage project are being installed this spring and summer.
The first phase will include pedestrian and vehicle signs on major roadways and in the downtown area.
Though the wayfinding signs are separate from the welcome signs, they will share some design elements, said community growth investments and sustainability director, Jeff Greene, in the news report.
According to Greene, the town dedicated a lot of time and effort to ensure the signage was a good fit for the community.
“The process has been a fairly deliberate process that’s taken place over a fairly healthy amount of time, and we wanted to make sure we had not only the best price but the best style, look, and feel that’s unique to Okotoks and we think this is going to be a really nice value added to the community,” said Greene in the news report.
The town also plans to add digital elements to the signage such as QR codes or NFC tags.
