Metrolinx, a provincial agency that integrates transportation in Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe region, has awarded a tender to TG Baker Americas to supply 1.2-m (47-in.) outdoor passenger information displays to train stations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The outdoor-durable liquid crystal displays (LCDs), which are fully sealed and rated for ingress protection (IP), have been developed by Nanov Display and are distributed by Tech Data Canada. TG Baker, which is serving as Tech Data’s contractor, specializes in installing passenger information terminals.
The monitors, which Nanov designed with Canadian weather in mind and have been tested in Metrolinx facilities, can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 40 C and are housed in aluminum-alloy casing for effective transfer of heat. A new ‘heat pipe’ system also enables constant internal temperature control.
“We are excited to supply this intelligent outdoor digital signage to Metrolinx,” says Manal Guirguis, Tech Data’s director of product management.
