ONTogether, a not-for-profit organization established to foster individual resiliency during challenging times, has introduced limited-edition posters made by Canadian artists to show its support to Nova Scotians.
The organization’s founders, Jean-Marc MacKenzie (Cape Breton Island) and Dr. Robert Francis (Stellarton) are both from Nova Scotia.
“We have been deeply saddened by the devastating events at home. We send our condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who have lost their lives,” said MacKenzie. “We were in the midst of raising funds to support front-line organizations to help them provide mental health and social welfare services to those in most need that have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. However, our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are in Nova Scotia.”
ONTogether has commissioned two lighthouse images for the ‘Hope’ and ‘Support’ posters.
The ‘Support’ print shows the province’s flag as the beacon from the lighthouse in Burntcoat, N.S., rising to the heavens. Ontario’s provincial flower—the Trillium—in the foreground symbolizes the two provinces stand together in offering love and support.
“The first lighthouse in Canada was established at Louisbourg in 1734,” said MacKenzie. “Nova Scotia gave Canada this beacon of hope, and we need it to show the way again.”
