Pattison Outdoor Advertising has renewed its transit ad contract with Ottawa-Carleton Transportation (OC Transpo) for a further 10 years. The new deal will include the introduction of ‘next vehicle arrival system’ digital displays at Ottawa’s Transitway stations.

The contract, under which OC Transpo receives a portion of all transit ad revenue, was awarded in January following a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process. The digital signage system is being developed by OC Transpo and will be implemented by Pattison. Testing is expected to start later this year, with full operation planned for 2014.

Other new transit advertising options will include large murals this spring on OC Transpo’s new fleet of 75 double-decker buses, which began to hit the roads last October, and Transitway ‘station domination’ opportunities.

“The double-decker murals should be a hit because they are the only large-format outdoor advertising option available in the market,” says Frank Wilson, Pattison’s sales manager for Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

Pattison has managed OC Transpo advertising since 1999.
