The city of Winnipeg recently dedicated a section of Wordsworth Way to pro wrestler and local ambassador Chris Jericho, presenting him with signage to mark the area of the west-end street he grew up on.

According to a report from CTV News, Jericho was visiting the city on Mar. 15 for an All Elite Wrestling Show (AEW). That morning, he was honoured by Mayor Scott Gillingham with a street sign that read “Chris Jericho Way.” The sign would later be installed on Wordsworth Way, between Browning Boulevard and Westwood Drive.

Jericho also received a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal from Premier Heather Stefanson. The medal recognizes Manitobans who are considered “community heroes” for their “selflessness and charitable endeavours.”

“Chris has always answered the call, whether it be donating to help victims of the Alberta forest fires, or more recently, to Damar Hamlin’s charity toy drive,” said Stefanson. “He has also worked with the Inspire Foundation, participated in charity hockey games in support of Cheering for Children and the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, and is the spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.”

The report also states Jericho has previously received the Order of the Buffalo Hunt, as well as the key to Winnipeg.
