Projecting an image on the world stage

Christie Digital Systems Canada, which manufactures digital signage products in Kitchener, Ont., recently entered an exclusive partnership with the digital media company Crystal CG to supply projectors and MicroTile video wall cubes for the new Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) multimedia exhibition and information centre, which opened on July 27, 2012, in Paris, France.

Dedicated to the history of world expositions, the centre houses a research library, meeting facilities and a permanent exhibition highlighting the past accomplishments of BIE, an intergovernmental organization.

As a corporate partner, Christie is providing a wide array of digital displays, including projectors throughout the centre—including an immersive first-person experience area (pictured, right)—and MicroTiles for a video wall in the reception area (pictured, left).

The project follows a successful collaboration between Christie and Crystal CG at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.

“Both Christie and Crystal CG have extensive experience in the visual technology industry,” says Pascal Deseure, the BIE centre’s managing director. “As partners, we look forward to demonstrating the power of this technology to deliver messages from event sponsors and host cities on a grand scale.”

“It is a great privilege to play a role in the developmental phase of many key international expositions that will have an impact on the world stage,” says Kathryn Cress, Christie’s vice-president (VP) of global and corporate marketing.
