Replica streetcar ‘delivers’ Pan Am meals

panamvillageThe Sign Depot in Kitchener, Ont., fabricated a three-dimensional (3-D) replica of a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar for the food court and dining area at the 2015 Pan Am Games athletes’ village.

Working from a concept by Toronto-based Cricket Design, the signmakers built the replica as an indoor façade for the food court’s St. Lawrence Grill station. The result suggested a sort of ‘food truck’ model for serving meals to Pan Am athletes at the village in Toronto’s West Don Lands neighbourhood.

The Sign Depot has worked with Cricket on food-related projects before; their sign for the Beertown Public House in Cambridge, Ont., was named Best in Show in Sign Media Canada’s 2012 National Sign Competition.
