Toronto-based ReproArt Imaging, which moved to a new facility in late May, has installed a Scitex FB7600 industrial press and Scitex FB700 printer from HP Canada to help target new markets.
Founded in 1983, the full-service shop provides in-house digital printing, mounting and lamination of graphics with a wide range of media and substrates, including plastics, metals and glass. Advertising agencies order outdoor signage for the out-of-home (OOH) market, including transit applications.
ReproArt acquired the printers to target the silkscreening and backlit graphics markets, where digital technology can help the company win new business by offering more flexibility, particularly when responding to last-minute client requests.
“We chose this technology because of the benefits we’d gain by opening our business up to a whole new market,” says Zohrab Tatikian, owner. “With the industrial press, for example, we’re second to none in terms of speed, giving us a competitive advantage in faster turnaround times for clients. We have significantly increased our ability to respond to backlit orders. What used to take us a full day can now be completed in as little as 20 minutes!”
The FB7600 prints ultraviolet-curable (UV-curable) pigmented cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow and key/black (CcMmYK) inks on rigid and flexible media up to 25 mm (1 in.) thick and 1.65 m (5.4 ft) wide. The FB700 can process media up to 64 mm (2.5 in.) thick and 2.5 m (8.2 ft) wide.
