The Specialty Graphic Imaging Foundation (SGIF), a non-profit affiliate of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), has announced five scholarship program winners for 2016, including two students entering studies at Toronto’s Ryerson University.
Daniel Langsford and Jessica Rocha-Da Silva, who are enrolled in Ryerson’s School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM), have each been awarded $2,000 U.S. This year’s other winners include Mitchell Morgan in the Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT’s) media arts and technology program, Pawan Khake in RIT’s printing engineering and graphics communications program and Tesa Pearman in the University of Central Missouri’s graphic technology program.
Applications for the scholarships were submitted by mid-April and reviewed by SGIA’s education committee based on scholastic achievement, an application essay, participation in extracurricular activities, work experience and academic and professional recommendations.
“SGIA is thrilled to be able to support these students,” says Erin Nuss, the organization’s associate manager of education. “They worked hard for it. And we know they will bring that work ethic not only to their education, but also to the industry.”
