SAC announces competition winners

In late September, the Sign Association of Canada (SAC) announced the winners of its annual sign competition at a gala dinner during its CONSAC trade show and conference in Mississauga, Ont.

Winners were named in 11 categories:

  • Building identification, lower level—Curb Signs, Newmarket, Ont., for Knightstone Capital Management.
  • Building identification, upper level—A-Tec Signs, Brampton, Ont., for Tangerine.
  • Dimensional plaques and carved signs—A-Tec Signs, Brampton, Ont., for Purdies Paddocks at BB Ridge.
  • Electronic message centres (EMCs)—Provincial Sign Systems, Pickering, Ont., for The Windsor Star.
  • Fascia signs/channel letters for tenant signage—Hi Signs, Edmonton, for West Edmonton Mall.
  • Free-standing signs—Landale Signs, Edmonton, for Comfort Furniture/La-Z-Boy.
  • Monument signage—Advantage Signs, Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., for City of Fort Saskatchewan.
  • Point-of-purchase (POP) displays—Mattatall Signs, Dartmouth, N.S., for NSLC.
  • Unusual/unique displays—Mattatall Signs, Dartmouth, N.S., for The Bicycle Thief/The Bertossi Group.
  • Vehicle graphics—Hi Signs, Edmonton, for Tara Gamble.
  • Wayfinding systems—Forward Signs, Toronto, for Atlon.

In addition, Landale Signs’ work for Comfort Furniture/La-Z-Boy (pictured left) was named ‘best in show.’

During the same gala, several CONSAC-related awards were also handed out. Norma Mettry of Fleet FX Graphics was honoured for winning a car wrap competition earlier that day using 3M Canada materials (pictured right), while TLS International and Roland DGA were recognized for the best small/mid-sized and large booth at the show, respectively.
