[1]In a recent contest fuelled by social media, Samsung Electronics Canada featured participants lining up for the new Galaxy S6 smartphone on a ground-level 24-m (80-ft) long digital sign in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, as well as a nearby video billboard.
Samsung rewarded consumers with daily points for sharing content inspired by the smartphone with the hashtag #S6Lineup via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Those with the most points moved up the line into the top spots.
From April 2 to 8, participants in spots one through six appeared on Samsung’s permanent billboard overlooking Yonge-Dundas Square, while those in spots seven through 50 were displayed on the ground-level board (pictured), allowing spectators to see their progress in working to the front of the line. Finally, on April 10, the top six contestants each won their own Galaxy S6.
