With the Toronto Raptors going to their first National Basketball Association (NBA) finals, the city is doing whatever it can to convince the team’s star player Kawhi Leonard to stay—even using out-of-home (OOH) advertising.
With the Toronto Raptors making franchise history as the first Canadian team to compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals, restaurants and businesses alike are doing whatever it takes to convince basketball player Kawhi Leonard to re-sign with the team.
Out-of-home (OOH) advertising is being used significantly in hopes of charming Leonard. A post from BlogTO[2] reveals luxury consignment store Queen Street West’s, OD Toronto co-owner Tetra had the current mural of Leonard’s game-winning shot produced by car wrapping company Sekanskin within hours of the game. The mural is made from weather-proof vinyl and features six panels. There were two murals at the store location of Kawhi: one from his game with the 76ers and one featuring his buzzer beater shot.
On memorializing the moment Tetra said, “I thought it would create a bigger moment, it’s not about anything other than the energy… not just for our customers but for the entire city.”
Last week, a team of artists completed a mural at Regent Park in Toronto. Sports hosts Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro acknowledged via social media OOH billboards installed throughout Toronto featuring the phrase ‘Kawhi You Should Stay.’
Window graphics are also being used in local restaurants. Eateries such as fusion cuisine Garleek Kitchen are offering Leonard free meals for life if he stays in Toronto. Other food franchises can join on this campaign by displaying ‘Ka’Wine and Dine’ decals at their establishments.
