PrismTech Graphics in Burnaby, B.C., recently installed a Scitex LX850 printer from HP Canada to increase efficiency and reduce project costs.
“We produce banner stands, posters and point-of-purchase (POP) displays with the LX850 for a variety of clients,” says Lane Beaton, who oversees operational development. “Since installing the printer, the quality of our print jobs and the speed of our operations have increased, while our costs and waste have been lowered.
Indeed, as the company has shifted from screenprinting to digital printing, it reports jobs that used to take 100 hours to complete are now done in 10 hours.
“The installation has also paved the way to print on textile substrates and carpet fabrics, which has opened a new revenue-generation model for our company,” says Beaton.
Another advantage is the printer’s use of ‘latex’ durable aqueous inks, which contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and do not require special ventilation equipment.
“The LX850 has enabled us to create a healthy work environment for our staff and to meet the needs of environmentally sensitive customers throughout British Columbia,” Beaton says. “Our clients appreciate the lack of solvent fumes from the output.”
