Clive Roux has been appointed CEO of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD). He was previously CEO of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
Roux took on the new position with SEGD effective December 3, 2012, and is based at the organization’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. He succeeds Jessica W. London, who resigned last May.
Originally hailing from South Africa, Roux had a lengthy industrial design career with the multinational electronics company Philips before leading IDSA from 2009 to 2012.
“In the 1990s, I did a lot of design research into the future of technology and we predicted handheld devices would give way to ‘intelligent environments,’” he says. “Environmental graphic designers are uniquely qualified to help thoughtfully integrate this technology into the real world.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Clive to our community,” says Amy Lukas, SEGD’s president. “We look forward to seeing SEGD benefit from his broad experience in managing business, creative and marketing functions across the design spectrum.”
